- Be reassured!I took delivery of my LiDE 100 Canon scanner on 25th August 2010 and there is no probem with it at all. So be reassured, not all the batch are faulty! It replaces my MUSTEK CP1200 which only had a serial port and therfore wouldn't connect to my new Windows 7 machine. Depsite the expense, it's much quieter, much quicker and much simpler to use. Still a real shame Mr Gates makes us shell out more money simply to replace equipment that worked perfectly well in the first place.... ho hum!

- Faulty product - twice!I had the same problem as another reviewer - the scanner head wouldn't move (although it tried to) it just juddered a bit and screeched at me when I pressed 'scan'.

- Epic failStraight out of the box the scanner head is unable to move, gets stuck and screeches until I turn it off, probably due to broken tracks or motors. Now I have to pay to send it back. Too bad I don't have anything to print the return slip with. Thanks Canon!

- Sadly defectiveI'm sure most of these scanners are fine, but the one I received was defective and had to be returned.

- It's flat, it scans, it fulfils all me plans...Alright. The 600 dpi option is handy if you want a really detailed picture though you get truly enormous jpg's that some software can't even handle. Colours are good and the bundled software is useful for touching up, for those of us who can't afford Photoshop. It's reasonably fast and autodetects picture size perfectly. It somehow manages to avoid the Moiré patterns that other scanners get with pictures from newspapers and magazines.
The OCR's quite good, though, like all OCR, it's never ... Read More
